Inviting Directors To Submit Proposals For 2019 Season

Call for Proposals

To All Directors:

Bard in the Valley (BIV) is inviting directors to submit proposals to direct a Shakespearean play for BIV’s 2019 season – the tenth season. If you are a director and you have a passion for a particular Shakespearean play, we would like to hear from you. We would also entertain the idea of producing a play by a Shakespearean contemporary.

Auditions for actors will be held mid-March, we rehearse twice a week from the beginning of April, and have 16 performances from approximately June 29 to July 31 (11 of which are admission-free). The rehearsal dates are based on the availability of the City of Langley’s facility but have historically been on Sunday afternoons and Monday evenings.

Please submit your proposal before July 5. You will be invited to present your proposal to the Bard in the Valley board in the middle of July. The BIV board will announce the play and director at the final performances of our current summer production.

We plan to continue producing Shakespearean plays, and other classic plays, for many years so, if your play is not selected for this year, we’ll keep your proposal in mind for subsequent years.

Bard in the Valley gives the director a small honorarium of $500.

Thank you
